Of the 188 teams which entered the 13th Student Quiz Cup Contest, 18 teams were selected for the Semi-Final & Final rounds on the coming Sunday following an exciting preliminary contest on December 1.

Organized by Banco Delta Asia, Student Quiz Cup Contest is sponsored by The Office of the Secretary for Social Affair & Culture and co-organized by DSEJ. The contest has become a popular annual event for Macau's secondary schools since its launch in 1990.

This year, Dr. Fernando Chui Sai On, the Secretary of Social Affair & Culture was invited to give an opening speech at the event and Dr. Luiz Amado de Vizeu, Director of Macau Education & Youth Affairs Department as the guest of honour.

Prizes are attractive. Winners of the senior category will become "Student Ambassadors" who will be entitled to a summer school camp in China. On top of this, the champion team will also be awarded a brand new "Twelve-Year" grand trophy, on which their team name will be engraved, for display at their school for the year. The trophy will be passed onto the new winning team next year. For the other winners, their teachers and schools will be awarded scholarships and book funds respectively.

The 13th Student Quiz Cup Contest was kicked off by a written test last month, followed by a preliminary contest on December 1. Of the 188 teams, 18 teams will enter the Semi-Final and Final rounds.
